The Conflict Between Israel & Hamas in Gaza Really Matters

The main prophetic emphasis of the Gaza War between Hamas and Israel centers on the LAND. The Bible serves as the definitive authority on this matter, clearly outlining ownership of the Gaza Strip. Despite Ariel Sharon's inexplicably decision in 1967 to cede Gaza to the Palestinians, the tragic events of the October 7, 2024 massacre create an opportunity for Israel to reclaim what is rightfully theirs.
This is the situation we face: a critical juncture where Netanyahu might complete the mission in Gaza and keep the territory as part of Israel.
God’s Covenant with Israel: Evangelicals often emphasize God’s everlasting covenant with Abraham and his descendants (Genesis 12:1–3; Genesis 17:7–8). This undergirds the belief that the Jewish people still hold a central role in God’s plan, and Gaza may be a part of the prophetic plan.
As believers in Jesus and grounded in His return, the following four (4) principles remain paramount to understanding current events:
Biblical Support for Israel: Passages like Psalm 122:6 (“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem”) and Isaiah 62:1–7 highlight Israel as significant in God’s redemptive purposes.
Many evangelicals view standing with Israel as a biblical responsibility—believing God blesses those who bless His people (Genesis 12:3).
Israel as God’s Timepiece: Evangelicals who study prophecy often call Israel the “prophetic clock.” Events in Israel are seen as indicators of where history stands in relation to Christ’s return.
Wars in the Middle East: Conflicts like those with Hamas are sometimes interpreted as foreshadowing or aligning with end-times battles (e.g., Ezekiel 38–39; Zechariah 12; Matthew 24).
Restoration of Israel: The modern state of Israel (since 1948) is seen as fulfillment of prophecy (Ezekiel 37:21–22), and its survival in hostile surroundings strengthens that conviction.
✅ For evangelical Christians, the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza is significant because Israel occupies a special role in God's promises and prophetic plan. Conflicts in the Middle East are often interpreted through an eschatological perspective, and supporting Israel is frequently regarded as both a biblical obligation and a moral position against terrorism. Simultaneously, evangelicals are encouraged to pray for peace, the salvation of both Jews and Arabs, and for the fulfillment of God's purposes.
I hope this makes sense to you.
It is crucial that, as we observe geopolitical events such as those in Gaza, we stay grounded in the Word. Contemporary scholars highlight several important scriptures to aid prophecy students (like you and me) in comprehending current and future prophecies.
Here are some of the most important:
The Dry Bones Restored
Passage: Ezekiel 37:21–22 – “I will take the people of Israel from among the nations… and bring them into their own land… I will make them one nation in the land.”
Prophetic Connection: Many evangelicals see this fulfilled in the rebirth of the modern state of Israel in 1948 after centuries of exile. Every conflict Israel faces is viewed in light of this miracle of national restoration.
Ezekiel's War
Passage: Ezekiel 38:8–9 – “In future years you will invade a land that has recovered from war … you and all your hordes will advance like a storm.”
Prophetic Connection: This describes a coalition of nations coming against Israel in the “latter years.” Some speculate that Middle Eastern wars (including Hamas’s allies, like Iran) foreshadow this final massive invasion. While Hamas alone isn’t “Gog,” their hostility is seen as part of the growing storm.
Jerusalem a Cup of Trembling
Passage: Zechariah 12:2–3 – “I will make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling… all the nations of the earth will gather against it.”
Prophetic Connection: Jerusalem’s status is a global flashpoint. We see today’s political tensions—nations debating Israel’s actions in Gaza, disputes over Jerusalem’s control—as aligning with this prophecy.
The Day of the Lord
Passage: Zechariah 14:2–4 – “I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it … Then the Lord will go out and fight against those nations … On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives.”
Prophetic Connection: This points to the final battle culminating in Christ’s return. We connect modern wars in Israel as “birth pangs” leading toward this climactic event.
The Olivet Discourse
Passage: Matthew 24:6–8 – “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars … Nation will rise against nation… All these are the beginning of birth pains.”
Prophetic Connection: Jesus warned of global turmoil before His return. We see the ongoing conflicts in Israel, especially the violence with Hamas, as part of these escalating “birth pains.”
Israel’s Future Salvation
Passage: Romans 11:25–26 – “A partial hardening has come upon Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And in this way all Israel will be saved.”
Prophetic Connection: Despite Israel’s current conflicts and unbelief, we believe God has a redemptive plan: a coming Israel nation that will turn to Christ. Every event is seen as moving history toward that fulfillment.
✅ Evangelicals associate the current Israeli conflict with Hamas with end-times prophecies, as Scripture highlights the restoration of Israel, the geopolitical and religious significance of Jerusalem, and global opposition as crucial indicators preceding Christ’s return. Wars and hostility are viewed as precursors to Israel's ultimate deliverance and the arrival of Jesus as King.
Luke 21:28: "When these things begin to take place; stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near."
