Watchman's Creed

1)  I am a watchman.

2)  I will maintain my post on the wall of the church of the twiceborn, always watching — watching for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, watching the signs of the times unfold, and watching for the incursions of the enemy with his lies, errors, deceptions, and compromises.

3)  I will uphold the Bible as the infallible word of God—verbally and plenarily inspired—accurate in its history and prophecy as well as its salvation message.

4)  I will uphold the plain statements of Scripture, and the conclusions naturally deduced from them, over the tenets of man-contrived theology and philosophy, no matter how popular or cherished.

5)  I will uphold Jesus—as he is presented in the Bible—as the ONLY way of salvation.

6)  I will not shrink from exposing doctrinal error that undermines vital truth and the spiritual health of the church.

7)  I hold the first coming and the second coming of Jesus in EQUAL balance, convinced that they are the two poles upon which the message of God’s redemption revolves, that the second coming is not less important than the first, and that the second coming is the completion of the redemption undertaken at the cross.

8)  I regard prophecy as history foretold and interpret it with the same principles that are used to interpret history. I reject the notion that prophecy falls under a special literary category known as the apocalyptic genre and requires a special spiritualizing approach.

9)  I will not retreat in the face of accusations that prophetic teaching is unnecessary, or unprofitable, or divisive. God would not have given us a Bible that is one-third prophecy were any of these true.

10)  I reject the cavil that teaching the pretribulation rapture is merely arguing over the timing of the rapture.  It is a big-picture view that contends for a clear distinction between Israel and the church, for the fulfillment of the dozens of promises made to Israel in the OT, for the character of the God who made those promises, and for the 70th week as a time distinctly stated to pertain to the people and nation of Israel.

11)  I oppose replacement theology in all of its forms as a catastrophic rewriting of the Bible. The present nation of Israel, despite her unbelief and sin, still has a place in God’s prophetic plan and will be grafted back into the olive tree of God’s earthly testimony after the church is removed. The gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

12)  I will fight the good fight of faith as a good soldier of the Lord Jesus Christ with all of my heart, soul, mind, and strength, in my gift and calling, wearing the full armor of God, unentangled with the world, until the trumpet sounds and we meet the Lord in the clouds. We have one short life to be good soldiers. We have one long eternity to be fulfilled human beings.
